"You have to focus on your daily work"
Embarba emphasizes the commitment of the group and declares that after the break he will be working on "getting back into it" and being "at my best"
Adrián Embarba took stock after returning to training after the break caused by the Covid-19 pandemic: "It's an unprecedented situation that we've had to live through. I really wanted to get back together with my team-mates, to train, to feel like a footballer, to get back into the daily routine. After so many months at home, we're looking forward to it."
"It's something you never imagine can happen. It's horrible to see the number of infected, of dead and also, like in my case, to be away from the family. It's the hardest thing I've ever had to do. I am very close to my family and friends," admits the blue-and-whites attacker.
After the first sessions and in separate groups, as per La Liga protocol, Embarba tells us, "we want to get back into the rhythm, back to top level fitness, we are concerned not to get injured, to get working again, not overdo it, focus on improving a little each day. He emphasizes that "we have to focus on the day-to-day, we do not know what is to come, or how the situation might develop. You have to focus on your daily work, get better, not worry about things, recover, rest well, train again and be at your best.
The Madrid-born player also talks about the strength of the group: "I don't know how the other teams in La Liga are doing, we're focusing on our team. We are an incredible team. People are very involved, training as hard as they can, and that will take us where we want to go. He adds: "After a break, after an unprecedented situation, it's difficult to get back into the rhythm, to feel the sensations, to feel like a footballer again. The coaching staff are really supportive in getting us back to top fitness levels again.
As physical trainer Jaume Bartés and the first team's own coach Abelardo recognize, Embarba tells us that muscular problems could arise when training resumes: "There is quite a risk of injury after a period when we have not worked regularly or even left our homes. No matter how much you train at home, it's not a real situation and the risk of injury is higher."
Finally, the winger wanted to send a message to all the team's fans: "It was also very difficult for them. Tell them that we're doing our utmost, that the team is very committed. We're going to miss them so much. I want them to know that they are going to be very proud of us and that we are going to give more than our best to achieve this.
