Work and humility
David López reminds that the goal is to fight to get in the first ten but does not give up fighting for Europe
David López is one of the most experienced football players in the squad and has lived all kinds of situations throughout his football career. The good spell of Espanyol in recent days has generated some euphoria and some people have begun to openly talk about Europe. The Catalan is very clear what should be the line to follow from here to season’s end.
"This is the typical question... I think we will fight until the end to qualify for Europe. Otherwise: What will we do? Will we save ourselves and be idle until the end of the season? Anyway, we have to be cautious because there are very good teams, we will have to fight a lot, but always from the work and humility that have brought us here", he said. In this sense, the player said that "we have a clear goal that is to be in the top ten. We will try to achieve this and when the season is over, we will see how good we have done". David López does not consider Europe to be a taboo word, but he said that "we may not speak for fear of not doing so. We are aware of the difficulty and of the rivals that there are that counts on very extensive and prepared squads. The thing to be clear is that we will fight until the end to arrive". The Catalan, moreover, has appealed to prudence to achieve the proposed objectives. "We will try and work for it. We came from a very positive streak, but we have gone through all kinds of spells. We have a complicated calendar in which we will try to achieve the greatest number of victories. Espanyol has grown, improved and I hope it will be until the end".
Regarding the match against Real Sociedad has said that "it is a very balanced team. I like how they play and they are a rival that likes to dominate the matches and to have the possession. We have our weapons and we will try to learn from the mistakes we had in the first round and take advantage of the gaps they will leave us".
