Without doubts
Javi Fuego sees a solid Espanyol and "with resources to be in a higher position"
Javi Fuego knows that this Sunday he will live "a special match". Valencia’s visit continues to leave a particular flavour after all the years he spent there, but that does not prevent him from being clear that he will defend Espanyol and that he will look for the three points. "People are not to doubt about my commitment", claims. "This is a hard working team and we have resources to be in better position. There is a united group that has enough skills to move forward."
He said that the qualitative leap that Valencia has given is normal "because it is a great institution with a large social mass behind and many resources to do things right. They have made the right decision with the coach and it is the logical consequence of having done well in summer".
He insists that "we do not start from scratch" and that shows that there are concepts that "are more settled. We want to endorse it with points and being in a better position in the classification".
He points out that the last defeat in Vitoria “is painful because of how it happened. We had a goal that conditioned us and that makes us want to get the game on Sunday. This is a squad that does not negotiate the effort, which has a lot of competition and we all want Sunday to see an attractive match".
“We have to be very meticulous because we are two very well worked teams and any detail or mistake can take the balance to win or lose the game. For us it is a key game and we have to get the three points. Against Betis we left a very good image. Then we had a key game to get into the group above and we could not. We lacked the result to get on the path of the teams that are ahead of us".
He reveals that he maintains a good personal relationship with Marcelino, Valencia’s coach, "because I had him when I played for the second team of Sporting and after in the first team. He made me better as a footballer. He lives for and for football and that is what he transmits to the soccer player. It has fitted like finger ring in Valencia and, beyond the results, I believe that he is a great manager".
