Víctor Sánchez assumes that "it's a different preseason because you have to catch up very soon"
The stage in TorreMirona is providing the team not only the physical background to face an official calendar that will begin very soon, but also, the first brushstrokes of what David Gallego wants from his players. In that line has been expressed today Victor Sanchez, one of the white and blue captains.
"We were all thinking about getting there well because we were starting to compete very soon. It's a different preseason in which we have to catch the rhythm very soon. We're looking forward to start playing and enjoying ourselves", admits the versatile Catalan player.
He assures that the 25th of July, the one of the debut in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League, is marked in the calendar as a date to which they have to arrive with the automatisms of the work sufficiently clear. "We're putting a lot of emphasis on that”, he said while stressing that he is "sure that we will make good matches.
He insists that last year "there were moments when we saw that it was far to reach a UEFA place and in the end the team ended up in the top seven, something that had not happened for many years. We all ended up proud of what we achieved. It would be a shame not to enter the group stage now, so we're going to fight as hard as we can to get there”.
Inevitably one of the recurring themes these days is the state of Borja and Mario Hermoso, after they insist again and again that their future may be outside the club. "I see them quite focused. They're professionals and they're here" and he reiterates that he doesn't have the feeling that these outings can be done soon or safely”.
In the same way, he points out that Rubi's departure was "something strange, something that nobody thought" and he assumes that the manager "grew up with us and we grew up with him. He got an opportunity where he believes he can grow and that's all there is to talk about”.
Finally, on the differences and similarities between Rubi and Gallego argues that "the two are coaches who like very much to have the ball and be protagonists of the game. They have things in common and some different ideas. Gallego also insists on an attractive football idea, on being the protagonists of the match".
