"We seek to be a regular team"
Quique Sánchez Flores says he sees the players "with enthusiasm" to play these last championship days
Espanyol faces the last part of the tournament. Ten matches in which our team’s position will be defined. And, to start with, three very complicated rivals in the next week: R. Betis, Athletic Club and Alaves. After two weeks where international commitments took place, the team goes back to the competition. "The boys are good, they are very excited and hopefully we can compensate this thrill that has been generated around the team. The training sessions have been good, we have incorporated people, we live moments of joy and hopefully it will last until the end of the season”, he said.
In this regard, Quique emphasised that "winning is always a must, a challenge, is what finally measures you. Each time we face a match we know that we will find difficulties, but we seek to be a regular team. We will have to reset, start over, play for our people and come to the stadium because it is the final step so that we can be a better team".
Precisely, one of the most positive aspects for the team has been not having suffered during the season. "We worked for our fans and to fight anguish has been one of the tasks that we set ourselves. I'm really glad that people enjoy it. We encourage people to go to the stadium and hopefully we can create fantastic environments", he said. Quique said that "when I see the team, at times, it reminds me of a good team, which will improve in the future. Everything is a path, you have to get fresh at the end of the road. This is the way we have done; play under the syndrome of happiness, that the players have an energy that connects them between them for the team to roll".
About R. Betis, next rival of the espanyolistas, he said that: "They have a clear way to play, with three centers, three players in midfield and can alternate with one or two points. They read the game in a proper way. Ceballos has gained prominence and Rubén Pardo helps them to play better. But our way of attacking does not change. We will treat him as peers".
