"We must keep going"
Jofre Carreras warns that Saturday's trip to Sporting de Gijón will be a tricky one
Off the back of Friday’s close defeat to Leganés, Jofre Carrerras has insisted that the team cannot lose momentum in the race for promotion.
A first home loss of the season last week saw RCD Espanyol knocked off top spot, albeit still in the automatic promotion places. Jofre, who has been regaining full match fitness after recovering from his injury, knows that the team must remain on the right path.
Jofre said, “I feel better with every day that passes. When you stop, even for a short time, it is difficult to pick up the pace, but every day I feel better. The defeat hurt us but we have to continue, we must keep going; this is not over”.
Next up is a trip to northern Spain to face Sporting de Gijón on Saturday, where Luis García’s side will aim to react and regain top spot in LaLiga Hypermotion.
Carreras continued, “It will be a complicated game like any game in the second division. We have to be prepared for any game and scenario. It is a very long season, there are about nine to 10 teams separated by just a few points, and our ambition is to win and widen the gap”.
