González: "I believe in our ability to turn the situation around"
The coach looks ahead to the meeting with Sevilla FC
RCD Espanyol coach Manolo González faces Saturday's match away to Sevilla FC keen for his side to continue from where they left off on the last matchday, as they attempt to move clear of the drop zone with a win.
"I believe in our ability to turn the situation around. On home form, we would be sixth in the table, but away we are the worst team in LaLiga. We have to turn this around if we want to stay in the Primera División," he explained on Friday.
For the coach, "we have to play a good game away, and win it too. We know it will be difficult, but I am tired of saying that we are capable of winning away and that it is with that conviction we go into this match."
González pointed out that he is "happy" with the new signings that have arrived in the winter transfer window, and insisted that the team "are in good spirits."
"The group is united and aware. Tomorrow we have to, in addition to running, compete and do things well. If we are capable of doing that, then we will be capable of winning on at any ground. That is how we have to go out onto the pitch against Sevilla FC."
Regarding the opposition, he told journalists that “in the first game against them, the differential factor was Lukebakio. Everything was very close, but it was decided by the talent of one player. In addition, they have a great coach, who already demonstrated that at UD Las Palmas, and at Sevilla he is doing phenomenally -at a place with a lot of pressure.”
