"We must face difficult times"
Oscar Duarte, who will not play again this season, talks about his feelings a week after his injury
One of the saddest news of this season has been the injury of Oscar Duarte. The defence suffered against Eibar a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of the left knee, that will keep him between six and eight months out of the fields. The player will visit Dr. Ramon Cugat tomorrow, accompanied by the head of the medical services of the club, Antoni Turmo, to assess the condition of his knee and try to date his operation.
"I do not like being away from the group for so long, but I have to face it. I have to support the team from the stand, trusting fully that my colleagues will end well. They are working hard and all we want is to keep adding. Difficult moments must be faced, although there are people who still have to face major problems. You have to be grateful to God and have confidence", said Óscar Duarte. The player remembers that at the time of the injury he felt that his knee hurt. "On the stretcher I told the doctor that I felt better, I even tried to return to the field, but I could not."
The international defender, who had never suffered an injury of this type, has said he does not want to put "a recovery period". "I hope it's a short time but the important thing is to recover well", he said. In this sense, he has said that "the support of my family, my wife, my son, my mother, my colleagues, the fans... Everyone has sent me many messages of encouragement and I am very grateful. I have the confidence in God that I will become stronger".
On the steps to follow at this time "you have to be calm and wait for the knee to deflate. It is necessary to wait now to gain future time and that the knee is in optimal conditions to operate. I leave everything to God. I'm going to be in the hands of experts, you have to face things and be calm".
