"The team proved that the take the Cup seriously"
Granero, who scored the second goal, praises the team's reaction
Esteban Granero was one of the most outstanding players of the victory against Tenerife. The midfielder scored the second goal and had an outstanding performance in the centre of the field. The player has valued very positively the reaction the team had. "We had to win. The start of the game was not good because their goal complicated the match. The team's reaction was good. We had maturity and personality and we did not lose sight of the goal. We did what we needed to turn the scoreboard. The team showed that the Cup is taken seriously and that we have the responsibility to play a good match", he said.
Next Tuesday, December 5th, the draw of eighth of the final will be held. Granero has no preferences: "All rivals are strong and attractive. The biggest teams are by definition more difficult than the not so big ones, nevertheless in some instances proved they have eliminated the big ones. We will face the matches with the same desire and competitiveness that we have had so far". Granero said that it was a "good" game in every way both individually and collectively and added that "the coach is responsible for choosing and the players are responsible for maximizing".
In the personal aspect, he pointed out that he is working "with great intensity to be prepared when the opportunities arrive. The work done has its reward and games like yesterday reinforce this work. I am sure that this type of action –I talk about the other team mates- is useful as reinforcement and petrol for the next weeks. We have a long squad, there is competitiveness and we can be there anytime". In this sense, Granero said that he is "satisfied" of his work and added that he is doing "everything a player can and must do to achieve his goals. I work with maximum energy every day and I think that work in training has its reward. The season is long, yesterday a good game came out and we hope that in the following it will be like that".
Regarding LaLiga's next matches, the midfielder assured that "they are not affordable. In the league we came with two lost game and I think that against Getafe it was a result for the subsequent games because we managed to win in complicated circumstances and that gives credit and security. Yesterday we showed the line of continuity and security that give us the victories and we hope to maintain this dynamic”.
