"The process has been positive"
Borja Iglesias said that he has enjoyed the preseason but said that the team has room for improvement
Borja Iglesias has been one of the main protagonists of this preseason. The Galician striker, one of the new faces of the 2018-19 project, said that the team has completed a good preparation although he has pointed out that there is space for improvement. A few days before the debut against Celta, Borja said that he is excited to play in Balaídos.
"We still have a lot left. The preseason is to generate enthusiasm and prepare well. In that sense, we arrived very well, but we have room for improvement. We arrived in conditions that we would have signed at the beginning because it is not easy to start with a new game idea and a new coach. The process has been positive", he said Borja. The striker, in any case, has said that "our preseason has been very beautiful, we have enjoyed a lot. And that is necessary to face a start of competition, but Saturday starts something new”.
“We think about our idea, we are going to try to capture it. If the other team wants to generate the same situations, we will try to be superior. We're really looking forward to being protagonists." Borja recognizes that he feels "prepared that was what I wanted at this point. The preseason serves to find you at ease, build trust. Now the manater must decide, which is difficult enough to add any opinion".
In this sense, Borja explained that "I wanted to grow, to progress, and we all want to be protagonists. Today I see myself as a protagonist because I am in a first team, which is what I was looking for. I do not look for another thing. My dream is to start playing and play everything. I see myself with the expectations fulfilled because it is a first team, because the club has bet strongly for me. And I am very happy because I have that opportunity and I want to take advantage of it". The coach has said that he has "a lot of enthusiasm" and added "for me it is special because I go to my city and it gives me if there is more feeling to start the league". Barring mishap, Borja could debut with Espanyol before his team. The forward is clear that, if he scored, yes he would celebrate. "Yes, I would celebrate it. First, because I'm not going to lack respect for anyone, but if I do not celebrate it, I would lack respect for my teammates, my fans and myself. It's nice because I'm going to live in my land, with my people nearby”, he finished.
