Starting from the beginning
Ferreyra considers that this season must show his best performance
Facundo Ferreyra arrived at Espanyol on the last day of the winter signing window. The Argentinian striker, accompanied by Alfa Semedo, joined the white-and-blue discipline on loan from Benfica for a season and a half. The last one, when he was better, he was injured and, in this one, he starts from zero and with the illusion intact. "I'm happy to start from the preseason with the team and thinking about the match on July 25”, he says and stresses that "competitions in Europe are special. To be with Espanyol is an important goal. We have in front of us a challenge to pass this phase and to continue forward to enter the group phase".
He argues that he had to adapt to Espanyol as soon as he arrived because "he had a marked idea of play, with a regular striker. At the best time I was injured and I have to admit that Borja was doing a great season, scoring many goals and the team was doing well," he says while acknowledging that he had to wait and bring his experience from the bench. "Now we're all starting from scratch and I have to take advantage to get physically well and help the team," he insists.
Two names, Borja and Vargas, have taken the interest of the last few hours. These are questions that he doesn't avoid and he points out that "we don't know anything about Borja. They are private things between the club and the player" and his compatriot adds that "I read that there was interest in Espanyol and I read what the sports director of Velez said. I don't know much about this player. He's very young and I've seen him a few times, but I think he's a complete footballer, who has one against one, final pass and goal".
