Romero: "A win would give us an incredible boost"
The defender wants the team to continue their momentum
Carlos Romero talked to the media this Thursday, ahead of RCD Espanyol's Saturday fixture against RCD Mallorca. The fullback commented that the team are approaching the encounter "with great enthusiasm. A win would give us an incredible boost. We won in Vitoria against Alavés, and we're looking forward to this next match. Putting in a good performance and taking the three points would mean a lot."
The defender acknowledged that he has had his ups and downs throughout the season, but insisted that playing for Espanyol was the best option "to develop my skills as a footballer."
"I relaxed. I thought I had done everything, and then I got a reality check. I think now I'm much more focused on what I need to do. Defensively, I think I've improved a lot thanks to watching videos and working with the coach."
He also thanked the club for paying the clause in his loan contract to play against parent club Villarreal, in the rescheduled game.
"It's a gesture I greatly appreciate. The sporting director and the coach told me this a few days before, and I think it's a big gesture of confidence. The new kickoff date for that match means having to play three consecutive away games, and that's not normal."
