González: "It's a game in which we have to go all out"
The coach holds a press conference before the meeting with RCD Mallorca
Previewing RCD Espanyol's LaLiga game against RCD Mallorca, coach Manolo González told the media that “It's a game in which we have to go all out. If we don't give 120%, we'll be out of luck. We're one of the teams in LaLiga who run the most, and if we do that, we're not inferior to the other sides."
The coach praised the opponents and explained that they are a side “with one of the best coaches in the league. He's doing a great job, and his team have maintained a strong level of performance all season. They're close to 40 points and doing a spectacular job. They're competing very well. If we're not able to perform at our best, it will be very difficult to beat them.”
“Mallorca might win or lose, but they always compete well. They're a very difficult team to win against. We're coming into this game with a higher level of confidence than we had in the first half of the season, but we know they're going to push us to the highest level.”
González stated that Los Pericos will be looking for the win, stating that "we'll have to work hard and be very successful with our chances. Those are the keys. So far, we've been able to show that, even away from home, we can compete on equal terms with the others."
The coach learned during training that Omar has been called up to the Moroccan national team, while Joan Garcia is not included in Luis de la Fuente's Spain squad.
"Joan is starting to become a top goalkeeper in Europe, and will only get better. And I'm proud of Omar's selection. I accept all the decisions and I find them very respectable, both on one side and the other. I've never been in a national team environment and I don't know how those decisions are made, but I can see that sooner or later Joan's opportunity will come. We all have to help him maintain the level he's at now."
