Returning home
Sergi Darder insists on "the desire I had to return" to Espanyol "and now I have to prove it in the field"
Sergi Darder is delighted and enormously excited in the new stage that now begins with Espanyol. The Mallorcan midfielder said that for some time he had the idea of returning to the white and blue team although he was not clear when he could do it. "I wanted to come back, although, after leaving Malaga to Lyon, I thought it would be much later. The most important thing, for me, was to feel loved", he said at the same time thanking Olympique "to make me feel at home in these two years that I have spent with them and that they have treated me like one of them in spite of the difficulties of his adaptation of the first months".
He says that having so many players formed in the club "makes 110 percent in each game, but my role right now is to take confidence, have minutes, compete and do my best".
“The effort that Espanyol has made has been great and now it's my turn to thank them in the field. When I finished last season I saw my return feasible but when I came back to play this year I thought it would be difficult. In the end I think the two teams have made an effort to be here".
Darder also points out that "I have not stopped playing or training in this league start. I look forward to playing Espanyol as soon as possible, but that is the manager's job".
"I have already won at Camp Nou once and that makes you see that a second time is possible. But I have not had time to think about it and I have not talked to my colleagues or the staff. It's the toughest field to begin with but it's also the most difficult to win".
