Positive stimulus
Rubi believes that winning in Pucela "would be a state of maximum happiness to share with the fans"
Espanyol faces this Friday the option to fight for the first place in the League. It will be in Valladolid, against a team that is proving very effective in this start of the championship. Rubi knows this and is not uncomfortable with this situation. In some way, he is happy to feel pressured by the stimulus to be at the top of the ranking. "No need to remind the players", he says. "If we win, we will sleep two days in a position that will make the supporters very happy, but ahead of us we will also have a team that will try to chain five consecutive victories for the first time in its history", he said.
He said that the pressure is to fight to get out of the places below, but this, fight for the top, "is a very big stimulus" and reaffirms that the team is working well and that "must continue on that same line". Reaching the lead this weekend "may be anecdotal", but it would also be "a state of maximum happiness to share with our fans".
He said that, for him, "all the matches are complicated", but immediately he is more specific that "I have a lot of confidence in the team and I think we can move them forward" and points out that "we are managing everything normally, calmly and thinking that all this is thanks to the players".
He reminds that "we have lost at Bernabéu and Vitoria, but we have the feeling that we could have some more points and that is very strong. We needed to win outside but now we want to play again in our stadium having won out again".
He said that he maintains a good relationship with Sergio González, the Valladolid coach, and smiles while confirming that both are "on the good wave" and that "things are positive for the pair of them".
He also said that he never had any doubts about Valladolid's adaptation to the category and confirms that "they are functioning as a block. I'm a bit surprised by their score, but not for their performance".
