Players from RCD Espanyol de Barcelona make a donation to Igualada Hospital
One of the first centers most shaken by the coronavirus outbreak has been the Igualada Hospital
The community outbreak in Igualada began on March 8, the date the first cases were detected. It affected a large number of staff very quickly and directly and at its peak over 40% of staff were infected or confined.
Through the Hospital Foundation, the players of RCD Espanyol de Barcelona, on their own initiative, have made a personal donation to the Igualada center for the purchase of medical supplies. Soccer players have been able, in this way, to contribute to the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Igualada Hospital is part of the Anoia Health Consortium (CSA).
The CSA is a public entity comprising the Catalan Health Service (60%), the Igualada City Council (30%) and the Anoia Regional Council (10%).
It has 4 healthcare lines: specialized care (Hospital), primary care (CAP Igualada Norte), Socio-Health Care and Dependency (integrated in the Hospital) and Mental Health and Addiction Care. The CSA provides health care to the population of Anoia (and Santa Coloma de Queralt), a total of 110,000 inhabitants.
The health center will allocate the donation to the purchase of individual protection equipment (PPE). This donation for protective equipment is very important and has been received with special gratitude.
