Pacheco: "We are perfectly qualified to achieve our objective"

The goalkeeper is confident about RCD Espanyol's potential

Fernando Pacheco is optimistic and hopeful about the new challenge that RCD Espanyol have this season in the Segunda División. Having joined the club in the winter transfer window, he says that his staying at the club was never in doubt this summer.

"This year I was very clear that I wanted to continue here, perform at my best level and repay the confidence that the club showed me when they signed me," he told the media on Thursday.

Having featured on the opening two matchdays, Pacheco says that he "fully trusts in the squad we have. We are perfectly qualified to achieve our objective."

"The team spirit is very good and our day-to-day work is too. There is a lot of unity and we have a clear path to follow.”

The goalkeeper also noted the importance of exciting the fans again, saying "It is in our power to do it. I haven't been at many clubs, but when you've been in football for years you know that RCD Espanyol are one of the biggest in Spain. The division does not matter and it's all about the exciting challenge that lies ahead: To get this club back to where it deserves to be."
