The season so far
Having been promoted from the second tier last year, Almería have been in a relegation battle for the majority of their season back in LaLiga. They now arrive on the final day needing a point to renew their top-flight status, though anything less will make it a nervy wait for other results to go in their favour.
Standout player
Lucas Robertone has had a decent season in the heart of the Almería midfield, closing in on double figures which includes seven assists for the Argentine. He will look to continue his form with the Rojiblancos into the future, with a long-term contract running until 2028.
Last time at the RCDE Stadium
It has been almost three years since Almería’s last visit to the Temple, which was played behind closed doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Espanyol emerged victorious with goals at the start of the first half and in the closing stages from Raúl de Tomás, helping the Mágico to a 2-1 home win en route to promotion to LaLiga.
Club links
Manager Rubi returns to the RCDE Stadium after managing the Club for a year, where they qualified for Europe during his tenure. He also comes back with a former perico in Adrián Embarba, who made almost 100 appearances for Espanyol before joining Almería in the summer.
