Moreno: "You cannot give Rayo any advantage"
The coach looks ahead to Sunday's 2pm CET kickoff
Vicente Moreno previewed RCD Espanyol's game against Rayo Vallecano in his pre-match press conference, and offered his thoughts on a side who beat Los Pericos twice last season in the Segunda División.
"Those games were tremendously evenly matched. At Vallecas we conceded our first goal against and suffered our first defeat, and at home we were 2-0 up -with chances to score a third- and in the end they came back. That's because they are a team who do things very well. You cannot give them any advantage. You have to be focused for 90 minutes. They play at a high level and have the ability to achieve good results,” he commented.
"Rayo have many things to highlight about them. They are a team who are doing similar to what we are doing. They have good players and a good coach who is working well. We place a lot of value in what they are doing. Each person can add the characteristics that they want, but they are similar to us in many ways."
However, the coach has confidence in the team's chances on Sunday.
“I believe that we can take the three points that would be very positive. In order to win, many things have to be done well. They are opponents who are in a similar situation to us: They have two more points at home than us, and also two more away from home. We have to think about the possibility of winning and we will get better numbers on the road than other clubs. Statistics are often a case of ups and downs from match to match. We have to be optimistic and focus on winning."
