Martínez: "We weren't at our usual level"
The coach reacts to the loss to UD Almería
After the defeat to UD Almería, a disappointed Diego Martínez looked back over the game in his post-match press conference.
“We played badly and were unbalanced, imprecise and very uncomfortable -and I think there was no reason for that. We weren't at our usual individual or collective level," lamented the RCD Espanyol coach.
"We have to pick ourselves back up. A defeat always hurts, and even more so when you have had a bad game. Neither a positive nor a negative game will take us away from what we are trying to build. When we are not at our maximum level we have problems -and today was such a day. We played badly. We have to be very clear. It was our worst match of the season so far."
The coach elaborated on the idea that “we tried, but we weren't good in any situation. The feeling is that we did not recognise each other in the game. The game was negative even in terms of bookings."
"We have finished the first half of the season with 20 points and we have to be more consistent. Today was a bad game, full stop. We have to return to the level of performance we had in the first part of the campaign. There have been 18 games in which the team have given everything and have been above expectations. Today is not one of those days and we weren't ourselves."
