Martínez: "We picked up a draw against difficult opposition"
The coach reviews a wild 1-1 result away to RCD Mallorca
Diego Martínez spoke after a 1-1 draw for RCD Espanyol against RCD Mallorca, and expressed the opinion that the team were just lacking effectiveness in front of goal to take the three points home.
“We did a good job in the first half. The only thing missing was a goal and more precision from us in the final third," he told journalists in his post-match press conference.
"I liked the personality of the team and how the played against a very solid defence. After Mallorca got their goal, the match turned a little crazy and we weren't completely OK with that. We have picked up a draw against difficult opposition."
The coach added that "many positive things have to happen for us to turn our fortunes around, especially if we take into account everything that has happened to us in these twelve matchdays" and reiterated that for the time being he prefers to focus on having seen "a team with personality" at many times.
“I think the team reacted very well after the goal that we conceded. We lacked the finishing ability off the final passes. We pushed to make it 1-2. We tried, but it wasn't possible," he lamented.
