Martínez: "We gave our all and the result is frustrating"
The coach gives his verdict of the loss to Villarreal
RCD Espanyol coach Diego Martínez reacted to the loss against Villarreal on Wednesday, saying that "the result is frustrating."
"The team generated a lot of chances. Rulli had a great game. Puado's one-on-one with the goalkeeper and Keidi's chance were the clearest of the match," he continued.
Martínez said, "The performance of the team was good and it was a complete game from us. We gave it our all. Espanyol were an competitive, intense, organiwed team that optimised our resources. The team had a good game."
Martínez continued by commenting that, “We believe in the team. We are growing a lot. Another thing is that our points total is not enough. A break is coming and we must pick ourselves back up, but I blindly trust in what is to come. It's our duty and we're very motivated."
"Except for five minutes after the goal was scored, we deserved more. It wasn't to be, and we would have seen everything in different way if we had got the victory. We need points and wins. We have to pick ourselves back up. We are angry and annoyed," he said.
“Competing as we did, but taking our chances, would be a different story. There is a break and a winter transfer market coming up. We have had significant growth. I know that people will not care, that they will say that we need points. Beyond our performance, we deserved more. There is no doubt that we gave it our all."
