Martínez: "We did a lot of positive things"
The coach reviews the 1-1 draw with CA Osasuna
Diego Martínez reacted to a 1-1 draw for RCD Espanyol against CA Osasuna in his post-match press conference. The coach told the press that "I think the attitude of the team was very good. We always want to win and we don't consider this point to be a good result, but we did a lot of positive things today."
"The team deserved more, but we weren't able to go ahead from the first few chances we had, and they led at half-time, which didn't reflect what was seen on the pitch. However, games are decided by details because we are in a very evenly-matched league."
Martínez reiterated that “we had a chance at the beginning, then Puado hit the post, we had some one-on-ones with the goalkeeper, then Osasuna's goal put a dampener on things. We had deserved to be in front and that would have given us what we were looking for from the start."
"We also started the second half well, but we ended up very tired. Overall, I come away from this one with the idea that the team recovered from conceding and we competed well."
“The important thing is to compete and gain points -in threes if possible. We always need to compete on an attacking level. That is our way. Each game is different, but today we managed the game with a new formation. The team were once again chameleonic in their adaptation. We have reinvented ourselves and we have found ways to be competitive."
