Luis Blanco: "We must take a step forward"

RCD Espanyol B are at home against Atlético Saguntino this Sunday (Ciutat Esportiva Dani Jarque, 6:30pm CET), opponents who have greatly changed their dynamic of results in recent weeks after a change of coach.

Coach Luis Blanco wants his team to stay in the playoff fight with another three points, and also believes that there is room for improvement for Los Pericos.

“We have the feeling that without us having done things wrong, we have to take a step forward, especially in terms of results. We must be more effective, because it is costing us points," he said ahead of the match.

"The foundation is there, the team compete and play well, but we have to stabilise things a little more and focus on what we want, especially when it comes to competing. We have to be more efficient in order to win more. We're going through a process in which the results are not going our way. You go through different phases during the season and you have to solve problems," Blanco commented.

Of Atlético Saguntino, he opined that "they have changed their fortunes a lot with the change of coach. They have many wins in the last few weeks, and that says a lot about their improvement. They are an intense side with clear ideas. The coach has changed the mentality of the group and they are going to make it very difficult for us."

Lastly, Blanco pointed out that “we have done things very well during the season. We have experienced adverse situations, but have competed and won. Now we are in a process in which we are finding things harder. There are many games left to find out where we are going to be, we are an ambitious team and we want more."
