Let's aim for a good ending
Quique insists on going to Granada "to win" and points out that next season hopes to "compete with more reliability"
Quique Sánchez Flores is satisfied with the year he has lived on the bench. On the verge of closing the championship, in the pre-match against Granada, he has reviewed some of the issues he will have to face next season while insisting that "we are going with the intention of competing, winning the game and play without relying on excess. Regardless of the rival, we want to win and see where we finish, but I think we have completed a very good season".
The manager insisted his will to continue growing "and to settle in the top 10 of the League. It is a pleasure to see how our rivals look at us and that is important for the future. We want to play, to add the three points, but that will not change the sensations of our final position, beyond the economic consequences that may have to be one or two positions higher in the table”.
Quique said that “I liked a lot the preseason but not the beginning of the season. We had to do a reset, I believe. The team has improved and we have finished playing at a good level. Our rivals see us as a difficult team to win, we defend well and if they let us attack, we are dangerous. We have to improve but we have reached a good level.
For next year Quique said that he expects two things: “We want to go a step forward so we can compete with more reliability. We should do better next season, but we have to wait and see if we will be able to reach Athletic Club, Villarreal o Real Sociedad that are clubs that are thinking in Champions. Our next step is to be better and from there we will know if we finish in a higher position. I expect that next season we are more mature and we improve our own approach to each match. We should have more possession of the ball, be calmer”.
“We depend on the players, of their performances and our evolution will depend on our players. If we can build the squad we are thinking of we will able to aspire to something better. We know that next season will be more demanding and we have to be right with our signings.
