Jofre goal ends 'Curse of Anduva'
RCD Espanyol win 0-1 against CD Mirandés
Jofre Carreras scored a winning goal for RCD Espanyol in their 0-1 triumph against Mirandés -the side for whom he had played on loan last season. The strike earned a deserved victory for Los Pericos, who had not managed to win at Anduva in either the league or the Copa del Rey two seasons ago.
Espanyol had a good number of chances before Jofre's goal. The first and clearest came in the second minute, when Pere Milla crashed his shot off the post. Then came an opportunity for Lazo, a disallowed goal for the home team due to a very clear offside, a shot from Pol Lozano that a defender cleared from off the line, a Jofre effort centimetres wide and a Brian Oliván attempt. In between all of that, the only serious warning from Mirandés came from Juan María, who struck just over the crossbar.
The second half was a carbon copy, as Espanyol controlled the play in a scrappy game. Keidi Baré joined the attack on a couple of occasions, Pere Milla saw had a shot cleared off the line by Diego Moreno... and finally they found the net.
Jofre's goal came from an assist from Keidi, and he celebrated in muted fashion after receiving an ovation from the Mirandés fans.
Javi Puado had the opportunity to increase the advantage, but he was also denied by an opposition player. The home side were put under siege late on, and Espanyol earned the win with a clean sheet.
