Javi López and Espanyol extend the captain's contract
The versatile player, an example of leadership, commitment and loyalty, will remain linked to the club at least till 2019
RCD Espanyol and the captain of the first team, Javi López, have reached an agreement to extend the contract of the Andalusian footballer until June 30th, 2019, with the option to extend one more season, until the summer of 2020. The player of Osuna, an example of leadership, commitment and loyalty to the club, is one of the icons for the squad and inside the dressing room of the first team. Although it began its race like a winger, he has consolidated in the elite of the national soccer as right back defender although well it has also disputed some parties like midfield when it was necessary.
Javi López came to the club from R. Betis B, in the season 2007-2008 and after three seasons in the second team of RCD Espanyol he made the leap to the first team. The Andalusian made his debut in First Division the 6th of October of 2009 against Villarreal with Mauricio Pochettino on the bench. With RCD Espanyol has played 210 official matches (193 League and 17 Cup) and has achieved two goals with the white and blue jersey. His regularity, effort and involvement have led him to be a regular with the different coaches who have passed through the entity during these last seasons. Captain of the first squad, Javi López has always shown himself as a professional handed over to the club and to his sporting and social progress.
Javi López will sign his new contract this coming Wednesday at RCDE Stadium and, at 5.30pm, will offer a press conference in the Auditorium - with access only for accredited media - accompanied by the CEO, Ramon Robert, and the whitish sports director, Jordi Lardín.
