"It is a very difficult situation for everyone"
Rufete says that the club will work hard to get back into the First Division
RCD Espanyol coach, Francisco Joaquín Pérez Rufete, said at the end of the match against FC Barcelona that “it is a very difficult situation for our people, and for us. We have to take a step forward and be close to our people." In this sense, Rufete has indicated that “the team is in a bad way; it's to be expected. It's not a situation that anybody wants to be in."
The coach, who has assumed responsibility for the relegation, stressed that “the key to the club's future is to analyse our mistakes and get down to work. We are going to work hard for our people, with the intention of being better.”
"We all have to do some self-criticism, because we have not achieved the objective. I have tried to do my best as sports director and then as coach. So I will not shirk my responsibility. We have to stand up, as we have done all our lives. And that's what we're doing."
