"It is a tough defeat"
Luis García gives an honest assessment on Saturday's defeat to Sporting de Gijón
Luis García expressed his disappointment in his side’s 2-0 loss on the road to Sporting de Gijón on Saturday.
RCD Espanyol were beaten by goals either side of the break, and the coach spoke in his post-match press conference as they drop out of the automatic promotion places.
García said, “It is a tough defeat because we came with a lot of enthusiasm. In the first half we were better, we dominated and their attacking chances were reduced to the goal they scored. We have had opportunities to get ahead, we had a penalty but it did not come to fruition. It is a tough defeat, but we knew we would have difficult moments along the way”.
The coach insisted, “I don't have the feeling that the team was weak today. Far from doubting, now it is clearer to me. These players are going to get promoted to the top flight, I do not have any doubt. I see what they feel, what they work for, their 200 percent involvement”.
García concluded, “I am not worried. I am always positive. And I know that there is self-demand at all times, in victory, in draws and in defeat. I cannot say anything bad of the players because of their attitude and involvement”.
