Representatives of the Spanish and Catalan Football Federations paid a visit to the Stage Front Stadium
A delegation from the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), headed by its president, Pedro Rocha, accompanied by representatives of the Catalan Football Federation (FCF), the Generalitat of Catalunya and the city councils of Barcelona, Cornellà de Llobregat, Prat de Llobregat and Sant Adrià de Besòs carried out an institutional visit this Wednesday in view of the candidacy of the Stage Front Stadium as the venue for the 2030 World Cup, organized by Spain, Portugal and Morocco.
Visitors thoroughly inspected Stage Front Stadium and saw all the new developments and improvements made to the stadium in recent months. The Stage Front Stadium continues to be a landmark and one of the most admired stadiums. It is worth remembering that the RFEF had the opportunity to organise a friendly at the Stage Front Stadium between the Spanish and Albanian national teams in March 2022 and was able to confirm that it is a modern, sustainable facility prepared to host events. top-level internationals.
RCD Espanyol CEO, Mao Ye Wu, led the Club's delegation accompanied by the deputy general manager, Toni Alegre, the sporting director, Fran Garagarza, communication and institutional relations director, Sergio Aguilar, and operations director, Mariano Weaver. On behalf of the RFEF, the president, Pedro Rocha, the chief of staff, Antonio Retamosa, the institutional relations director, Antonio Gómez-Reino, and the head of stadiums, María Tato, were present.
The FCF was represented by its president, Joan Soteras, and the communications director, Álvaro Montoliu. During the visit there was also representation from Barcelona City Council: David Escudé, sports councilor, and Oriol Martí, chief of staff; from the Cornellà de Llobregat City Council: Antonio Balmon, mayor, and Joan Culillas, project coordinator; from the Prat de Llobregat City Council: Lluís Mijoler, mayor, and Olga Asensio, head of the sports section; from the Sant Adrià de Besós City Council: Hugo Ferrer, deputy mayor and councilor, Fran Burgos, councilor for Sports; and from the Generalitat of Catalunya: Josep March, territorial representative of the General Secretariat of Sports in Barcelona.
RFEF President Pedro Rocah said, “I love what I saw at the Stadium. We have been working for more than a year and-a-half. The World Cup for both Spain and football is very important. We have very good memories of the friendly we played against Albania. It has had a positive impact”.
The head of the FCF, Joan Soteras, has said, “This is a demonstration of the importance that Catalunya has within the framework of national football. RCD Espanyol has an exceptional ground and an incomparable setting for the World Cup to be played. I am optimistic, because I understand that Catalonia is important enough for it to be one of the territorial ones that has two headquarters”.
Finally, Mao Ye, RCD Espanyol CEO, explained, “We are very happy to receive this visit at the Stage Front Stadium. We have the support of all the institutions involved and we have begun to work together to make the Espanyol field one of the venues for the 2030 World Cup. It is a first-class stadium and hosting World Cup matches would be a step to internationalize and raise awareness about our facilities".
