Individual player awards: the icing on the cake in what was a great season
RDT ended up as the top scorer, Diego López took the Zamora Trophy and Embarba was awarded as the best playmaker
Several positive things were taken from the match versus AD Alcorcón both for the team, and for various players in the first team squad. On the one hand, RCD Espanyol proclaimed themselves as champions of the second division for the second time in the club’s history, which put the finishing touch on a high-quality campaign. Having accomplished the promotion as their main objective, and with four games left to play until the end of the season, the team also clinched the top spot in the municipal of Santo Domingo. In addition, Vicente Moreno's team ended the season with the highest number of goals scored, and the least number of goals conceded.
On an individual level, there are three great achievements that have to be highlighted. Raúl de Tomás ended the season as the top scorer in the category with 23 goals, Diego López took the Zamora Trophy with an average of 0.63 goals conceded per match and Adrian Embarba set up 14 assists. These three honourable awards are confirmation of the team’s fantastic campaign.
