"Important things will arrive for the club"
Javi López focuses on confidence in his work and says he wants to win a title and retire in Espanyol
Captain Javi López has signed this Wednesday the renewal of his contract until 2019; a renewal that, as RCD Espanyol CEO Ramon Robert has pointed out, he has won with his "effort, professionalism and involvement". The Osuna born (Seville) player has not been able to hide his happiness by this agreement with the club of his life: "I want to thank Jordi Lardín, Ramon Robert and President Chen Yansheng. I have always said that my first dream is to retire here but ahead is to be able to lift a title with this club that has given me everything on a professional level; there would be nothing better. Not in ten lives could I give back to the club what the Club has given me. I think we are facing an exciting project and I think things will be important for the club because things are going well and it is an ambitious project."
In this sense, he stated that "in my best dreams I thought that I could live something like this. I have much to thank Mauricio Pochettino and others who have done much for me. I am very happy to have come here and I hope to keep adding games. I will be eternally grateful to Espanyol."
Aware of the variety of opinions that are generated in a world such as football, Javi López said that "I have risen more than once and trust in my work. I accept all opinions and criticisms and hope to make them change their views about my performance. My philosophy of life is work, work, work and more work; is the only thing I trust".
Regarding the options of the team in this final stretch of season, the defender stated that “there are ten games to go, but we have to go step by step because we are in a position where we can continue climbing and we will work in this line". In the personal aspect, the Andalusian can enter the list of 20 players who have played the most matches with Espanyol in the First Division. "It's a historic figure and being able to reach it in a club like Espanyol is a pride that can not be described in words".
Ramon Robert has ensured that the renewal of Javi López is a source of joy for all parties, while the sports director of the white and blue, Jordi Lardín, stressed that "everything that he has earned he has earned it in the field. He is an upright professional, a club man and all the coaches speak well of him. Since he arrived at the club he has always fought for Espanyol."
