"I wanted to come to Espanyol"
Matías Vargas assures in his presentation that he always had a clear sign for the white and blue club
Matías Vargas has been experiencing great emotions since his arrival at RCD Espanyol in Barcelona. Today has closed the first chapter with his official presentation to the media in the auditorium Juan Segura Palomares. "I chose Espanyol, because I think it's a very big club. I felt that I should come to Espanyol; it was what I wanted. When they told me about the project, I wanted to join in and contribute my grain of sand", said Matías Vargas.
Vargas said the team gave him "a very good feeling. It's a fantastic group, very human and they treated me very well. I am very happy and grateful to my team-mates. The coaching staff told me about their idea of the game and I hope I can live up to it”.
Vargas explained that the director of professional football, Francisco Joaquín Pérez Rufete, told him "the growth project that the club had, the idea of the game and what it wants. When I spoke with them and they showed me the interest, it caught my attention". The new footballer white and blue has commented that "from the first moment I had clear that I wanted to sign for Espanyol. I never doubted and I told Velez. I'll have to show on the pitch because I've been the most expensive signing”.
The white and blue attacker has said that his goal was always to play "in some of the major leagues" and added that it is handled "by feelings. At the time I felt that I should not move from Velez and now I wanted to come to Espanyol. I thank him for his confidence and I hope to do it in the best way".
For his part, the vice-president of the club, Carlos Garcia Pont, has indicated that this is "a special occasion" and has stressed that it is one more piece "of the construction of a project. Thank you very much for saying yes, for choosing us and for wanting to be with us.
