Good sensations
Víctor Sánchez points out that "the team competes well" but assumes that "we are missing a step" to win matches like Anoeta
Anoeta's tie has left a bittersweet flavour among the blue-and-white squad. On the one hand, they value especially the point obtained against a rival of a great level, but, on the other hand, they know that they still lack details to reach the competitive point that they want.
Víctor Sánchez, captain in the San Sebastian field, said that "we did a good first half. We put the match complicated, but in the second half, we got back and I think the final draw was fair. We would have preferred the victory, but we are missing a step to win these games".
He said that the league calendar, at the beginning, "we had five very complicated matches. Last year against these teams we added only one point and this time have added three draws that implies that, as far as sensations, we have improved, but the team lacks a point at home that would have allowed us to win more games and be closer to where we want. If we did do, we would have three or four more points. It does not seem logical to me to criticize the team because it competes well and we will continue to improve".
He insists that "we need to start winning the top teams" and reuse the example of last season. "We were only able to win a game, against Sevilla, against the seven teams that were ahead of us in the standings. We know to compete but we have to beat them. When we start to beat them, that will give us more confidence. There are things we lack, but there are also things that we do very well".
