García: "We have to be more effective in attack and defence"
The Espanyol coach looks ahead to Monday night's game
After last Sunday's draw, Espanyol are looking for a return to winning ways on Monday night. They play Tenerife away from home, and coach Luis García has insisted on his team improving both offensively and defensively.
"Tenerife have only conceded three goals, but they led to defeat. We have to be able to attack and defend well. They are a very good side, who move very well. We have to be solid defensively. We have to generate as many -or more situations- than we have been doing. We really want to get a win again.”
The coach claimed that he is “satisfied” with the work done, but added that “we always look at how to improve and progress. The qualitative leap has been great. We are generating scoring chances, but we have to be more successful both in the opposition area and in our defence. So far, the opposition have been very effective with the chances they generate against us.”
Elaborating on this issue, he insisted that “they create very little, but they are having a lot of success. In the last game, for example, the opposition had three shots and scored three goals. We had many more chances and ended up equalising with the last move of the game. We have to try to be more effective in everything we do and improve in all phases of the game."
