García: "We came back with the help of our fans"
The coach is pleased with the 3-2 win over Amorebieta
RCD Espanyol coach Luis García assessed the victory against SD Amorebieta, in which his team came back from 0-2 down to win 3-2.
“We knew it was going to be difficult. They are an uncomfortable side to play. In the first half, we did not have problems with our attitude or intensity, but rather with positioning. First, we tried to come out from the back with three players and then with two, but we didn't do it well. Our midfielders were playing far back and it was difficult for us to progress upfield. This led to a loss of possession that cost us a goal. The goal to make it 0-2 was from a defensive error. After the break, we were better positioned and we came back with the help of our fans,” he reflected.
“At times, we were hurrying to please the fans in our first home game with them there. In the second half it was a different story because we were more organised. We have to be patient to break down our opponents. Circulating the ball faster does not mean disrupting the opposition more. We have our ideas and I think it is the best for this team,” said García.
The coach highlighted that “winning is hard to do at any level. All teams have their weapons and work well. We gave everything over the 90 minutes, but we didn't do things well in the first half. When we showed more personality, we generated more danger and we scored three goals."
"Set pieces are a facet that is as important as the rest, and one to which we give a lot of value. Mario Fernández, our assistant coach, works very well in this area. We know that it is something that can help you move ahead in a game.”
