García: "This team are very much alive"
The coach reacts to the comeback against Atletico Madrid
After RCD Espanyol's astounding comeback from three goals down to draw 3-3 with Atletico Madrid, coach Luis García highlighted the reaction from his team.
"It has been a roller coaster of emotions, but I am convinced that we will stay up. This team are very much alive, and we don't give up when others would, with the score at 0-3. We played bravely and took Atletico Madrid on in the second half. We didn't take control of the match by chance. We had a lot of corners. We tried in every possible way," García stated.
"The team started the game extraordinarily well and I think we deserved to take the lead. But it didn't happen like that and unfortunately they made it 0-1 with their first chance," he explained.
"The team kept trying and around about the 40th minute there was a controversial decision. The club have officially requested to receive the image that they say clearly shows that the ball went in, because in the only image from the other angle Pacheco covers the ball and it isn't seen. The other image is from the spidercam -which, depending on the perspective, as happens in tennis, maybe the ball is in or isn't."
"The VAR tool is a very good one, but normally they notify the referees when the situation is clear and it was not in this case, at least from the images we have. I only hope that they send the image to the club where you can clearly see that the ball is in," he concluded.
