García: "The team did many things well"
The coach reflects on a 3-0 win at the Stage Front Stadium
RCD Espanyol coach Luis García spoke highly of both his side and the opposition after a 3-0 win over Racing Club de Ferrol, talking in his post-match press conference.
“We were facing a good side, with a great coach. There is no easy game in the Segunda División. Any team can create chances against you, and Pacheco made a great save to prevent us going 0-1 down. The team did many things well and they managed a game with an extra player. It is not easy to attack a team that plays with such a low block. I'm happy because we took the three points at home. I thank everyone who has been able to come and watch, and with these fans we don't care what day the league put our games on: The fans will continue to come,” he summarised.
“From the outside it may seem like a simple victory, but it is tough. Even with one more player, the team did many things well in order to win. Now we have a marathon of games coming up. We will play on Thursday and we will start preparing for that tonight. We have to get to the next game with confidence and calm. We have great professionals here to achieve a good recovery and prepare for Thursday's game,” he continued.
Finally, he lamented that the fixture calendar has not very favourable for fans to attend.
“Football has become a business, whilst it should be, and is, about the fans, about the people who come to show their passion for their team. It might sell a lot, but it hurts us and it hurts football in general. The fans suffer from it and we are going to have, in 10 matchdays, half on either a Monday or Friday. It is painful for our fans. Thanks to the fans because they are always there for us, and that has to be appreciated,” concluded García.
