García: "The team believe and they don't give up"
The coach's verdict on the 3-3 draw with Eldense
After RCD Espanyol took a point in a very tough match against Eldense, coach Luis García told journalists in his post-game press conference that the team tried to earn the victory until the end.
“I saw a team that in the eighth minute could have opened the scoring. We must be more forceful on clearances and dealing with crosses, because that is how the three goals were conceded. If we had been more clinical and effective, the game would have ended 6-3," he explained.
"The team believed. We had 12 corners. When the score was 1-3, those minutes are very important for any team. The team continued to believe; we had just used the last substitution window and Jofre was injured. We played the final minutes with ten men. We believed until the end. We have gone six games without losing. I will take away that and the bond we had with the fans."
“We have to continue working, insisting and believing in the players. They are the same ones who kept clean sheets before. They have the level of talent to continue doing that. If we attack with insistence, if we are able to close things up at the back and be more forceful going forward, we are sure to be closer to winning again. The division is tough and nobody gives anything away for free. Eldense did very well: They had three chances and scored three goals, which is 100 percent effectiveness. That's football. We have to look at ourselves to continue improving and strengthening the defensive phase, because the team generate a lot of chances. The team believe and they don't give up."
