García: "RCD Espanyol are still very much alive"
The coach was resilient after a 0-0 draw with Cadiz CF
RCD Espanyol coach, Luis García spoke after the Friday night draw against Cádiz CF, saying that the 0-0 result was down to a lack of effectiveness in front of goal.
"It's a pity: We were missing the most important thing, which is finishing our chances. In the first half we were nervous with the ball, given the situation. We needed to do better emotionally and take things with more calm. In the second half we generated many scoring situations. It didn't work out for us and we have to move on from this," said the coach.
“The dressing room atmosphere is one of hurt; we're frustrated by the situation. We are hurting because we thought it was going to be a good day, but it was not to be. We must lift ourselves up for the next game. That is why these players are footballers of the highest level. They kept fighting forever. There is a very strong team mentally."
Of his team's situation, he insisted that "Espanyol are still very much alive, in terms of both the fans and the team. They gave everything to win the match. I don't know any other way than to get back up and fight in the next game. I think we have to value the result positively: It's not enough, but it's a starting point. We have to cling to anything positive; we missed out on winning by a matter of centimetres and we kept a clean sheet."
To finish, the coach wanted to send a special message to the supporters: "I can only thank them. The players left absolutely everything out there. Perhaps the point is not enough, but I feel that we are very much alive and I still believe."
