García: "Our stimulus is to think only about tomorrow's game"
The coach praises Atletico Madrid and stresses that "we are facing the best team in the second half of the season"
With hardly any time to enjoy last Sunday's victory against Raul Vallecano in Vallecas before focusing on the next game, coach Luis García previewed Wednesday night's big game against Atletico Madrid.
“Our stimulus is to think only about tomorrow's game and doing a lot of things well. We cannot waste energy on anything that we do not control. We have to be focused on what is in our powers and get the three points again," said the coach, aware that his side are depending on slip-ups from their rivals in the final run-in.
"Atletico Madrid are the best team in the league in the second half of the season. They have been doing things very well for a long time. We have to be very effective and attack and defend well. It is a match of great important. We are confident that we will get the win, even though we are aware that they are a great team."
García acknowledged that the victory the this past weekend “has been very good for us. The team are united and we got that victory that brings us closer to our objective. We had a great game. Now the dressing room is looking forward to the game. The players feel liberated, but they know that now we have another big side in in front of us."
“The game the other day was a final for us. Without the result the other day, tomorrow would be much more difficult.”
The coach also praised the performance of referee Alejandro Hernández Hernández in Vallecas.
“Just as we complain about the referees or use their decisions as excuses, we must also say when it is the other way around and I didn't have the chance to do that the other day ”.
Finally, regarding the controversy that has been generated around racist insults made to Real Madrid's Vinicius, García was emphatic.
“It is reprehensible and something that must be immediately eradicated from our lives. For me we are all equal, without differences of any kind. These things cannot happen at a football ground."
