García: "It will be a tough match against Eldense"
The coach's pre-match press conference
Before RCD Espanyol's game against CD Eldense, coach Luis García pointed out what he requires from his players in the fixture and in the season as a whole.
“We must continue to grow every day, have humility and be aware that this dividion is very difficult. The moment you relax and think you are already promoted, you have a problem,” he commented ahead of the Sunday fixture.
The coach insists that acting in this way “is the fuel to achieve important objectives, such as returning to the Primera Division. We have room for improvement and it would be negative if we were at our best on Matchday 5."
“There is tremendous equality in the division, and we need to work with maximum humility to improve in each training session and in each match.”
“The key word is balance, especially for those of us who are on the inside. I think it's wonderful to generate enthusiasm and make people happy about the team. Inside the club, in the locker room, we have our heads screwed on, and we know the difficulty we are going to encounter.”
García said that "Thinking that Eldense are favourable opponents is the first mistake you can make. Nothing could be further from the truth. It will be a tough match. They have won half of the points at stake so far. They have a way of playing that gives them many tools with which to hurt us. If we think that just by playing at home, in front of our fans, we are going to win, we would be very mistaken. This division punishes that kind of thinking. We have to respect all our opponents and try to have a good game during the whole 90 minutes.”
"Topping the table would be anecdotal at this point, but even if we are leaders we will never look down on anyone. We will put ourselves at the same level as the others because we haven't achieved anything yet and there is a long way to go. The only thing we will think about is continuing to improve if we win, next week against Tenerife.”
