Garcìa: "It was a deserved victory"
The coach assesses the 1-4 win over Levante UD
RCD Espanyol coach Luis García was encouraged by the strong display against Levante UD, which saw his team win 1-4 on the road against expected promotion rivals.
"We have to value this match, because we were up against a great team with a great coach. There are times when we try things that don't work out, but today they did. It was a deserved victory," he said in his post-match press conference.
Despite the victory, García stated that “the game was very good, but we must be calm, just as if we had lost. We should always be calm. “We will continue to believe in our ourselves, and that way everything will be easier.”
He had some words of praise for Javi Puado and Nico Melamed, who both scored braces in the triumph.
“We believe a lot in what we do, in the players. I feel special joy for Melamed and Puado, who needed those two goals, and who are homegrown players. They are a real example for those coming up. But what I'll take away most is how the group did, and also those who helped from outside.”
“This run of results is thanks to the players, to the team, for the desire that they have to improve, because no one puts their individual interests ahead of the collective. We must enjoy this victory, but we must continue working to improve. We have to have ambition,” he concluded.
