García: “We have to be a brave team”
The míster looks ahead to an important trip down to Villarreal CF on Thursday
Luis García recognises that his squad is going through a transformation phase during this testing period, ahead of Thursday’s meeting with Villarreal.
In the first of three matches in the space of a week, RCD Espanyol go to the Estadio de la Cerámica looking to set things straight. Although they remain in a rough patch of form, the coach and the team alike showed that they have full belief that they can emerge from this situation.
Speaking at the RCDE Stadium on Wednesday, García said, “We have a very clear path, and we know what we have to do, above all, in this next match, to be able to get out of where we are. After each match we must reset ourselves and go again, I am convinced that we are much closer to victory than people think”.
Espanyol go to Villarreal following a goalless draw at home to Cádiz last time out, though the point was not yet enough to bring them out of the relegation zone. Meanwhile Villarreal go into Thursday’s clash with two defeats on the trot, looking themselves to return to winning ways in front of their fans.
García continued, “We are looking forward to the match. Villarreal are a great team, with very good individual players. We must make it an uncomfortable match for them and that happens by keeping the ball away from them. We have to be a brave team; we are growing with the ball, and we know that we are facing a great team”.
The coach concluded, “We have to keep pushing, I see this team wanting to get out there and show their commitment. A couple of days ago I told them that we must keep clean sheets, but keep the fuse burning after each match. They are very aware of the current situation, with a lot of energy and a lot of desire to get the win”.
