García: “The team is convinced that it is possible”
Sunday's match against Rayo Vallecano is a must-win match according to García
“We are not thinking about anything other than winning,” said Luis García ahead of Sunday’s match against Rayo Vallecano.
RCD Espanyol travel to Madrid this weekend with four matches remaining in the LaLiga season, four points off safety in a tense final few weeks. The coach addressed the media at the Ciutat Esportiva Dani Jarque on Friday, adamant that the team simply have to win for their survival goals.
García said, “The team is convinced that it is possible. The situation is getting more and more complicated but we are working very hard. It is no use dropping your head because that leads you to abandonment; and that word does not exist in my nature. Of course it is possible, we have time, although it is running out and it in the players’ hands to turn the situation around”.
Espanyol travel to the Estadio de Vallecas for their penultimate away match of the season, in what is the first of three matches in the space of the week. Though the table gives for harsh reading right now, the team continues to fight and believe that it is possible to remain in LaLiga.
The coach continued, “Our life is up to us, we have to go out for the win. One point will surely not be enough. We have to really believe that it is possible and the only way to do that is to work even more. We do not have a magic wand to change the situation. The more complicated, the more I want to turn the situation around.
García concluded, “That is something that also goes with the values of this club. From the team I notice that energy to turn this around. We have spent many matches on the wire, now it is time to win. We are convinced that we can achieve it and everything will look different”.
