Expósito: "We're angry, but we're going to achieve our target"
The attacker reflects on the controversy against RCD Mallorca
Edu Expósito talked to the media on Tuesday, with the controversy of the LaLiga Matchday 28 game against RCD Mallorca still fresh in his mind. The attacker explained that the squad "are angry, but we are going to achieve our target."
“At the end of the match, we didn't understand anything. The team were very hurt, from experiencing something we'd never experienced before. It was a difficult moment. We needed explanations to understand what was happening and the VAR reviews that gave Mallorca a penalty, whilst the incident involving Jofre wasn't reviewed,” commented Expósito.
"The feeling was a little strange. Yesterday I was watching a programme on TV and I saw a referee, who has recently retired, commenting on the move, and he didn't understand it either. So, if he doesn't understand it, imagine what it's like for us,” he continued.
“We have to keep working hard on the pitch. We're at a good level in the second half of the season and we're going to achieve our goal. The club are already working at an institutional level, and we only want to focus on what happens on the pitch. The dressing room is angry about this situation, but we have to look ahead to the next game. We have a week off, and it will be very good for us to refresh.”
Expósito added that, "despite the complexity of the situation, we have to set an example and behave in an exemplary manner. It makes you want to leave the pitch because things can't continue like this, but we have to behave appropriately. We can't lose our cool, but it makes you want to.”
