RCD Espanyol move into Copa Catalunya final
Los Pericos beat FC Barcelona 5-0
RCD Espanyol qualified for the Copa Catalunya final with a commanding victory over FC Barcelona. Mingo led the way in a 5-0 triumph with a hat trick, whilst José Ángel and Almansa secured the victory with their respective goals.
Los Pericos started the match strong, and took an early lead thanks to Mingo, one of the key players in the first half. Very active and accurate in front of goal, the striker benefited from the defensive mitakes made by FC Barcelona, who suffered greatly against Espanyol's impetus. José Ángel, with the help of an error by the visiting team's goalkeeper, secured the home side's victory in the first 45 minutes.
Almansa, at the start of the second half, joined the scoring spree with a fine goal following an outstanding solo move.
FC Barcelona continued to offer little resistance, and Espanyol continued to stalk the opposition area. Mingo missed out on his fourth goal of the game, failing to finish after a remarkable team move.
The highlight of the second half was Pablo Ramón's debut for RCD Espanyol, as he played the closing 20 minutes of the semifinal.
Espanyol pressed and fought until the end, and took a 5-0 win that sees them move on to the Copa Catalunya final.
