ESPANYOL OPEN TWO NEW ACADEMIES IN IRAQ
This agreement allows the generation of synergies between the club and the local academy, benefiting both parties
RCD Espanyol have been been present in Iraq since 2018, with the RCDE Academy in Baghdad. The club were pioneers in the territory and are now building on this by opening two more academies: The RCDE Academy Mosul and the RCDE Academy Basra.
After the success of the Baghdad academy and subsequent expansion, Espanyol continue to consolidate their presence in the Asian country, generating synergies with local academies and with the community.
Espanyol, through the club's academies, seek to leave a mark in all those territories in which they are present. Sport, and especially football, is capable of breaking all existing barriers, as demonstrated in each and every one of the RCDE Academies.
Miguel Mateo, one of the academy coaches, travelled to Iraq to ensure the necessary training for local coaches and players. The three academies already have 621 players and 30 local coaches.
