Espanyol B lose 2-1 away to Hércules
The second team lose for the first time in 2022/23
Espanyol B suffered their first defeat of the season on their away trip to Hércules, falling 2-1 at the Estadio Rico Perez.
The team began strongly, with a long shot by Antoniu Roca five minutes into the game, but it was from the next move that Hércules went ahead, as Harper finished off a cross into the box from the wing.
Los Pericos then found it difficult to gain possession and generate danger against a Hercules side who were solid both in attack and defense. Half an hour into the game, despite creating openings, Espanyol B were lacking success in the final third.
After the interval, the team were forceful in their attacks, and it bore fruit with an equaliser from Dacosta on 51 minutes. With the score level at 1-1, both sides pushed forward and, whilst Espanyol B had good spells and chances from set pieces, it was Hercules who pulled in front again after a solo move by Alvarito.
More hurried in the final half-hour, Espanyol B lacked precision in the opposition half, anf would have to be wary of counterattacks. A sending off for Óscar Romero in the 89th minute added to the difficulty, as Los Pericos experienced their first defeat of the season.
