El Hilali: "We are calmer after beating Deportivo Alavés"
The defender talks to the media
As RCD Espanyol prepare for their Monday fixture against Villarreal on Matchday 26, defender Omar El Hilali spoke to the media this week to explain the mood within the squad.
“We still have our feet on the ground, and are avoiding anything that is not our day to day work. We are calmer after beating Deportivo Alavés. It was a victory that has allowed us to some breathing room, and we are still motivated,” commented the defender.
“Since the Christmas break, the team have achieved a different mentality and we want to maintain this upward trend.”
He also pointed out that “we have full confidence in being able to get the three points this coming Monday. I see the team training and I see the desire they have. I'm convinced that we will challenge for the three points.”
“It is time to enjoy ourselves and not think negatively but positively. We are not thinking about any other game than this Monday and, when that is over, we will focus on the next one,” he reiterated.
For El Hilali, the team's good performances in recent weeks are based on "defensive solidity and dominance in the areas. We have improved a lot in the second half of the season. Many times we lost matches due to details before, and now we are controlling them better."
